This race is known as the wind in the sails of the Silver Consortium. Rather than hosting rich ports, where vast amounts of resources are traded, or manufacturing unique products, to sell for a high price, the Auqenel prefer to be personally involved in trading. The “Sea Elves” (as they are often referred to by other races) captain and crew more trading ships than all other races combined. The “elf” in their nickname only refers to the fact that they look somewhat similar to other elves: the race actually has very few elven behavioral or societal characteristics. This is because the Auqenel branched away from other elves shortly after the Age of Shadow began (and all other racial deviations began occurring). The Auqenel were the elves who simply could not abide by all the principles of the Alriket and found a better life in an amphibious coral environment (in an archipelago north of Jania).
“Sea Elves” are patriarchal with republic ruled city-states. They keep any foreigners to their homeland in segregated but comfortable districts. Sea Elves prefer to perform most of their trading amongst other races abroad rather than having massive amounts of profiteers venturing to their own lands. The Auqenel get along well with all races in the Silver Consortium and dislike any who are unfriendly to their faction.
Their skin is usually light blue to dark teal, their hair can be many colors (though usually a bit faded in tone) and their overall body-shape is similar to other elves. Their faces have sharp features and their ears are extremely tall and pointy (though they hug closer to their head than other elves). Though Sea Elves don’t like doing it, if they can help it, they can breathe underwater; they swim as fast as they run, too.
